Many of you know my past and that I lost my father when I was 9 years old and he was 41. He was diagnosed with Cancer at age 39 and in January of 2009 my older brother Rob, also 39 at the time, was diagnosed with stage IV Follicular Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Although this means that the cancer has spread through his entire body including his bones, he has been able to live a normal life without symptoms or medications yet and this means he may have another 30 day, months, or years. Thanks to the efforts of organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society along with Dr. Kaminski of the University of Michigan Medical Center we know that there’s a solid chance that when the fight begins, advancements will help Rob win the battle!
This is a very aggressive strain of Lymphoma and it tears me up to think of loosing my brother and the father of my awesome young niece and nephew.
Rob has formed a team for the Light The Night Walk to help raise money to support the tireless efforts of the LLS and we know times are tight so amounts as little as $5 would be greatly appreciated! You can pledge online and learn more about this great event by visiting his pledge page! He started with baby steps and a “small goal” but I’m hoping to do what I can to BLAST the goal to twice his original hopes. In a strange honor of this goal, I am on a shaving strike until either we hit my goal or the date of the walk arrives (which is my next wedding coincidentally).
If you know me well, you know I’ve never had a beard and it’s not normal so I’m pleading with you to help so I can shave this itch-maker off my face! I will post pictures along the way and keep everyone posted!
Thank you for your time, consideration, and help!
