I will be sharing a great number of photographs from our Peruvian adventure through the Andes that we made with the amazing Andina Travel based out of Cusco, the second largest city in Peru.

In July 2015 we arrived in Cusco after well over 6 months planning and communicating with our friends at Andina.  The trip was epic and has a long story but here’s the starting place to prep you for several blog posts and things that will hopefully help others out who are hoping to make the Trek through the Andes on either the Incan Trail, or the “back door” which is the longer path we took through the amazing Choquequario.  There will be much more about that later but let’s start with some of the favorite photos I took while hiking over 35 miles starting about 9,000 feet above sea level, down to Rio Apurimac near 6,000′, back up above 10,000, down again to Rio Blanco, up over 14,000 feet near the Yanama Pass / Victoria, and then along a horseshoe shaped train track that circled Machu Picchu.

This is an extreme work in progress with a documentary coming up “soon” and this experiment with the slideshow on my page!

When Dennis found out he needed to get Senior Photos even so late in the season we set his mind at ease by helping him find locations and choose outfits that would fit his personality but also work well for his family.

Downtown Grand Rapids Senior Portraits

Even though it’s often young men don’t want senior photos done like other boys at their school, we often find that guys like our casual style of working with them and they will shoot much longer than expected because they’re having a good time.  We were even able to get some shots in the studio for Dennis and he chose a nice mix for his printed choices!

We have many options available in our area and can work with all kinds of seniors.  Most seniors schedule their photos mid-week in the morning for the best possible price and are welcome to bring friends, props (skateboards, helmets, guitars, fandom pieces, etc) but we like to consult ahead of time to determine their personality for the best locations, outfits, and time of day for their locations.

Contact us for a free consultation about your senior! All standard senior sessions take advantage of free yearbook photo submission to their school, basic airbrushing on all prints 8×10 or larger, custom names on their wallets, and a select group of photos posted to Facebook for their own tagging at Terpstra Photo on Facebook.

All of these are examples of Dennis’ Wallet Photo choices!  Dennis is a recent graduate of Wellspring Preparatory High School.

One of the absolute gems living in Michigan is, of course, shooting engagement photos on Lake Michigan.  South Haven is one of the beauties and we were lucky to join David and Kristie for a late autumn shoot downtown and by the South Haven Pier.

It’s always nice to have a theme to play with on a photo shoot even if it’s for a fast and short one.  We took a run out to Lubber’s Field / Laker Stadium at Grand Valley State University / GVSU in Allendale Michigan to do some fun shots with Kelsey and Ryan in October.

We had a lot of fun, just as we always do, running around on a field but it’s always more fun when it’s the “home team”. Allendale has changed SO much since I moved away at age 15 but we still get nostalgic driving around GVSU.
